Thomas Angelo
Tommy Angelo had a brief but highly successful athletic career at Bennett High School. Tommy played two years of varsity football and was co captain of the 1952 Harvard Cup Champion squad. Tommy was named first team All-High in the Buffalo Evening News and the Courier Express as a linebacker following his senior season. At that time it was rare to have a defensive player only make the eleven man All-High team. Perhaps Tommy’s highest accolade was a comment made to him by Bennett’s legendary all time best football coach Fred Braun, who told Tommy “ you are the hardest hitter I ever coached “.
Concurrent with football, Tommy participated in the “ Golden Gloves “ boxing program, where he rose to be Middleweight Champion of Buffalo in 1953. Two years later in 1955, while in Military Service, Tommy became Heavyweight Champion of the armed forces at Ft. Knox, Kentucky.
Following his high school and Army career, Tommy launched a successful business career. He together with his wife Pat purchased and operated the famous “ Dad’s Cookie Company “. Tommy later owned and operated a Mobil Gas Station on the corner of Transit Rd. and Genesee St.
Today Tommy and Pat have been married for 56 years and reside in both Phoenix, Arizona and East Amherst, New York.
